Cough, cough, sniffle, sniffle.

ACK! What is with the fires?! I feel like I’m living in Bakersfield again because I can’t breathe with all the smoke in the air.

Also, it smells like a campfire. I hate camping.

Let’s pray these things get handled soon…I have wedding location-scouting to do and I can’t do it if the freeways are shut down due to fires! Geeze, Mother Nature, way to mess with the new bride!

In other news, I’m not working today, so I just finished watching “The Devil Wears Prada” (again.) I also need to go grocery shopping and maybe exercise (ew, and start training for the half marathon.)

Peace oot.

Woo! Woo! Woo! Breathe, Sarah, breathe.

Here are some pictures from our trip to Seattle. Oh, yeah, and read the story at the end – it’s a good one!

Pike’s Place Public Market
Chris is tall…

Oooh, how artistic! Or something.Another “artistic” one…Pike’s was our favorite place in Seattle, apparently. Until the Space Needle, of course!Me and my friend, the whale. Or whatever that is…Yeah, I think it’s a whale!Look at that! The leaves change color here!Bainbridge Island.Chris and Chris (Ox and Dub.)Post Alley. Duh.
Wine tasting. The Pink Door. Best Cosmos ever. That pole saved me from eating it on the downhill, cobblestone alley!Space Needle!!!Two hotties.
I’M ENGAGED!!!
I’ll drink to that!
One excited Sarah!

The Story! Chris and I had been planning this trip to Seattle for quite some time (quite some time – hahaha!) I’m constantly hearing about how “all great things come out of the Northwest,” so needless to say, I was excited to visit Chris’s favorite city.

I should interject here to say that I was hoping, HOPING he would ask me to marry him on this trip. Of course, if it hadn’t happened, I would not have been disappointed (really, I wouldn’t have!) But as it happened, you’re reading this blog because he did ask, so I’ll move on.

From Thursday night to Sunday, we had a great trip…Ate at yummy restaurants (we do love us some food!); rode the ferry to a nearby island (I love ferries!); wine tasted Washington wines (and joined their wine club. Probably not necessary ;-); drank a ton of coffee (typical); visited Chris’s old college roommate, Ox; and basically just had a blast hanging out around Seattle with each other!

Sunday night, we had plans to go to the top of the Space Needle and have dinner. It was a lot of fun, walking around the top and seeing the whole city, especially because – did I mention this before? – it was 65 degrees and sunny the entire time we were there!

After dinner, he told me he’d had an ulterior motive for bringing me to Seattle. I really can’t remember much else, except that he was down on one knee and he asked me to marry him and I’m pretty sure I said yes. I just kept saying, “I can’t breathe, I can’t breathe!” and “AAAAHHHH, I’M SO EXCITED!!!” and “I have to call my mom!” I’m pretty sure there was jumping up and down involved, too. We called the parents, the brothers, and a few close friends, and then hung out at an Irish pub (how apropos 😉 for the rest of the night.

So there you have it! All in all, I’d say it was a pretty good trip to Seattle!

FYI: We’re looking at about a year from now for “the big day.” Knowing us, we won’t want to wait that long, but being as other people are going to be involved, we’ll try to contain ourselves 🙂

Sidenote (watch out, it’s sappy!): It sure is fun looking down at my hand and seeing a huge diamond sparkling back at me! What’s even better, though, is thinking about the man who gave me this ring. Chris is everything I’ve always wanted and even better, he’s everything I didn’t even know I wanted. It’s a great feeling to know that I can be exactly who I am and Chris will accept and – even better! – love me for it. Even though when he asked me to marry him, I couldn’t breathe, I have never felt so able to breathe and be myself before.

Okay! I’m done being all pukey; it’s just not my style! In closing, let me just say that when you tell some dude after two weeks that you think you two are going to get married, and he doesn’t go running for the hills, then you know he’s a keeper 😉

Shout it out.

Happy 15th Anniversary Aunt Rach and JP!

It was on this day 15 years ago that I stuck my tongue out at the camera and got yelled at by Bamma Freda (c’mon, I was nine years old – this is the only memory I have of that day!)

CONGRATULATIONS and I hope you’ve scored a babysitter for tonight so you can celebrate. Or something 😉

P.S. Chris and I will be in Seattle (YAY!) beginning tomorrow at 2:10 PM, until Monday at 4:30 PM. Pictures will be posted shortly thereafter, I’m sure…

If you write it, they will…Read it.

Special Blog Request: Chris says he likes it when I write about food. I thought this was funny for two reasons: A) I could write about food all the time. This blog could, in all honestly, be devoted solely to food, and B) I have thought about writing more about food, but then decided against it, as I don’t want someone’s inner-dialogue to be (Jim Gaffigan-style, please), “Is food all this girl talks about???” when they read my blog.

So, food. I really don’t have anything to say about food right now, except that I’m a little hangry, but am too lazy to get up and walk over to the deli to grab lunch.

Instead, I’ll update you on some previous blogs…

Michelle ran up Texas Street! She’s awesome! What was even more awesome about it was that, coincidentally, Chris and I were in his car on Texas Street and we saw her running! We were shouting and honking and waving at her as she ran, but she never once broke her focus. She’s so cool.

Dave Matthews Band was meh. Who decided to have the concert at Coors Amphitheater on a FRIDAY night?! That was a bad idea, whoever you are. After an hour and fifteen minutes and a pit stop in Barrio Logan, we finally got down there. AND THEN Dave played a bunch of new crap! I’m sorry, Dave, but I only really cared about hearing your hits from the ’90s. We left the show early.

In other news, in case you hadn’t noticed, it’s the first day of October, which means several things:

– Everyone and their mother (literally, even my mom) is having a birthday this month. Be prepared for birthday shout outs galore.

– We’re going to grace Seattle with our presence in less than 11 days, yahoo! I’m a little bit excited.

– Several is three, right? I should have said “a couple” things…

Time for lunch, g’bye!

My own father. MY OWN FATHER…

…Said I looked “AWFUL” in the last picture. I didn’t know it was possible for me to take a bad picture, but I stand corrected. So, I changed it to a still-not-so-flattering picture, but cut me some slack – I have a shortage of pictures of me taken by myself.

P.S. Mom said I looked pretty.

Thanks for the compliments, though! I may get my beauty and charm from Mom, but I think we all know where I get my wit, humor, timing, what else did I miss?

In other news…

DAVE MATTHEWS BAND TONIGHT!!! I am so excited!!!

I heart pho.

Ladies: Are ankle boots still in fashion? I feel like I need a pair. This may be due to the fact that I’ve been watching “The Devil Wears Prada,” like, every single day, but whatever. I think they’re still in fashion and I think I need a pair before I go to Seattle (16 days!!!) However, I don’t want to look like a douchebag, so please let me know if you think they’re IN or OUT.

Who watched the season premier of “The Bachelor” last night? TRAIN WRECK CITY! Great TV, though, totally awesome. That show makes me wonder if these girls have dads. One girl jumped in the pool and told the bachelor, Brad (rolling my eyes), to take his pants off. Really? Isn’t your dad going to watch that and don’t you think he might be the slightest bit embarrassed that his daughter is a WHORE?! And don’t even get me started on the chick whose fake boob fell out of her dress and was sitting on the tile floor for two hours. Hah. Can’t wait for next week’s episode.

I’m off to Google things…We’re making pho tonight.
