30 Little Things

A blogger friend of mine has been doing something she calls “30 Little Things,” where she posts a picture a day for 30 days. Since I’ve been terrible at blogging these days, I figured it might be fun and won’t take nearly as much commitment as Colleen or Ashely’s Daily Me Projects. So, check back here everyday for the next 30 days to see a little something-something from my life.

P.S. I am also encouraging other bloggers (ahem, Aunt) to do it too 🙂

H-moon

I don’t have too many pictures to post from the honeymoon (because let’s be honest, who really cares about seeing me in front of the ocean or Chris in front of the ocean or both of us in front of the ocean like this?):

However, this awesome “catch” was worth documenting!
And of course, my blog wouldn’t be complete without a picture of us drinking…Dollar margaritas, what what!

I think I left my brain in Mexico…

A coffee filter…
…is sometimes necessary…
…in order to properly brew coffee.
I was lucky to salvage this.

What’s in a name?

So, we’re married. And no, to answer your question, it doesn’t feel different. Maybe it will when I change my name…

…Segue…

…This blog.

I don’t want to change my name. I really, really don’t. It doesn’t mean I won’t…I am, in fact, already in the process of changing my email addresses…it just means I am a little sad and a little annoyed at the whole name-change business. Sad that I am losing a name I worked really hard to get. Sad that I’m losing a name which means so much to me. Sad that I’m losing that awesome alliteration (SS is badass!). And annoyed that I, ONCE AGAIN, have to go through the tedious process of changing my name…visits to the Social Security office and the DMV, etc.

But there is someone who wants me to change my name. Really, really wants me to. And he wants me to more than I don’t want to and so, I’ll change it. I guess they call that…what’s the word?…oh, compromise.

So, yes, I know one day my new name will come naturally and I won’t sign off of all my emails with SS (dammit…SW!), but for now it’s hard. And no, I’m not hyphenating. I’m an all or nothing kinda gal, even if it means I complain along the way.

Best. Wedding. EVER.

I cannot even count the number of times I’ve heard that phrase today, be it in person, on the phone, or in a text.

Last night, Chris and I got hitched and the after-party, or “reception,” as some people call it, really was the BEST. EVER.

A ginormously huge THANK YOU goes out to moms, dads, families, brothers, bridesmaids, and all our friends who came to celebrate with us. Your presence is what made last night FRIGGIN AWESOME.

I have way too much to post about the wedding, but I’m tired, I’ve lost my voice, and I have to pack for the honeymoon. So, until next week…WOO-HOO, WE’RE MARRIED!!!

Agent 99

If you had asked me four years ago if I thought I’d be attending the 2008 Democratic National Convention in Denver, I’d have told you you were crazy. Well. I just got home from Denver. And right in time for my bridal shower and bachelorette party tomorrow, thank goodness! Come Monday, there will be way more [pictures] to post. Until then, I am way too tired, too beat, too exhausted, and too too too to even think straight.

Ciao!

Tagtastic!

The lovely and talented Colleen (of Colleen Sherman Photography…did you know she’s shooting our wedding next month?!) tagged me! It’s my first time being tagged, so I will try to make this as riveting as possible, however, I am in the process of writing the blog, “100 Things About Sarah That You Never Wanted To Know And Probably Still Don’t Want To Know,” so don’t be surprised if these next seven gems get repeated there. (By the way, I didn’t realize how hard it is to come up with 100 things about myself! Seven is muuuuuuch easier.) Anyway, here’s them rules:

1) Share seven facts about yourself on your blog, some random, some weird
2) Tag seven people at the end of your post by leaving their names as well as links to their blogs
3) Let them know they are tagged by leaving a comment on their blog

And without further ado…

UNO) I have curly hair. It’s not nearly as curly as my aunt’s hair, but my ‘fro is pretty righteous. Me and my Chi are BFFs….without her…well, I don’t even want to think about it.

DOS) I have never seen any of the Star Wars movies. What?! No! Yep, you read right. And try as you might, you will never get me to sit down and watch all 18 hours of them. I have what some (read: no) doctors refer to as Movie-Induced Narcolepsy. I cannot stay awake in a movie unless it’s extremely funny and/or under 100 minutes long. This is why some of my favorite movies are Anchorman, Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby, and Wedding Crashers (and even Wedding Crashers is too long sometimes.) Of course, I do love a number of other movies that are not produced by Judd Apatow, however, none of them are classified as sci-fi.

TRES) I am blind as a bat and it’s getting progressively worse by the day. Without glasses or contacts, I can’t see anything but blobs of color and my depth perception is less than stellar. I try to do as little night-driving as possible and can count on one hand the number of times I’ve driven my new car at night. You’re welcome.

QUATRO) I am OCD, but like Colleen, mine is undiagnosed (by an actual doctor, that is…I have diagnosed myself just fine 🙂 I have actually gotten a lot better, considering I used to arrange my money not only in dollar-bill order, but also by serial number. However, some of my older friends are still surprised that I let them sit on my bed. (I know, I was totally nuts.)

CINCO) I love my Sunday crossword puzzle. I have not worked up to the New York Times Sunday Crossword Puzzle yet (because, umm, I actually like finish my crossword puzzles), but I still enjoy “making that puzzle my bitch,” as Chris would say. By the way, if you haven’t seen the movie WordPlay, you really must. Whether or not you’re a lover of the crossword puzzle (yes, I realize the dorkiness of that sentence), it’s a a great movie and most definitely queue-worthy.

SEIS) I don’t love San Diego. I definitely don’t hate San Diego and I like it a hell of a lot more than Bakersfield (75 degree summers are waaaay better than Bakersfield’s blistering 100+ degrees), but I just don’t love it like some people do. Some other things I don’t like that most people do: horses (hate ’em), mayonnaise (ew, I’d rather have a dry sandwich thankyouverymuch), and camping (I just. Don’t. Get it.)

SIETE) I am an only child, however, I am Aunt Sarah to one fantabulous niece (cousin) and two adorable nephews (cousins.) Growing up, I never thought I’d get to be a “real” aunt and that totally bummed me out, as my aunts are the coolest and I wanted to be just as cool as them. So, nine years ago, right along with Anya, Aunt Sarah was born.

Sadly, I don’t really have anyone to tag 🙁 Other than maybe my aunt and my cousin, everyone whose blogs I read have already been tagged. However, if you’re so inclined, please tag yourself, but let me know so I can read your list!

A Scrabble board that will make the parents proud

I heart the Olympics. And Scrabble.

P.S. I won. And “snarky” was totally mine, go figure.
