Wedding Pictures: Getting Ready

(This is the first blog in a series of My Favorite Wedding Pictures blogs.)

Getting ready was almost my favorite part of my wedding day. Sure, getting married was pretty cool, as was THE MOST AWESOME PARTY EVER following that, but getting primped and prepped with my ladies was pretty damn fun, if only for the POP! of the champagne cork that erupted about every…oh, five minutes or so. Anyway, here are some of my favorite shots of the “Getting Ready” portion of the WORLD’S MOST EPIC WEDDING:

Ah, a relationship built on texting. In this picture, I am probably texting Chris something along the lines of, “Are you guys ready yet?!”
The boys getting ready. Apparently they were too busy watching college football to remember to GET READY for the WEDDING THEY WERE IN. But, they all shaved like I asked them to, so bygones.
Here, you can see the diamond earrings Chris got me as a wedding present. He wins the awards for both Best Husband Ever and also Smartest Husband Ever.
Me and my B-E-A-UTIFUL cousin, Anya. She’s my first cousin ever and an absolute doll.
Not stressed. At. All.
Finagling my way into that friggin wedding gown…Finishing touches…That’s Kacie sewing my up…

Wedding pictures!

I have had a few a lot of requests to see more our wedding pictures – and more than just what can be found on Colleen and Ashley‘s pages. Tonight, I finally got around to organizing the NINE HUNDRED AND ELEVEN pictures into five categories: Getting Ready, Family & Bridal Party, Ceremony, Cocktail Reception & Dinner, and Party Time. Over the next few days, I will be posting my favorite shots from each of the six categories and, minus a few shots here and there, all pictures will be brand spankin new! Well, new to you at least. I’ve been staring at these bad boys for months now…

Feeling a little inadequate

A couple weeks back, Colleen posted this blog and mentioned that it was her 436th blog post. She noted that she’s been blogging for over a year, which made me go DAAAAMN, girl!

Then, I read this blog entry of Ashley‘s, where she was celebrating her one year blog-iversary and she mentioned that was her 365th post! This made me go DOUBLE DAMN! Damn, damn.

You want to know how many posts I’ve had? Since I started this blog in September 2007, I have had a WHOPPING 147 entries. Seriously, how lame am I?

So, I have decided to ramp up the blogging. This means you, my faithful readers (Hi Mom and Dad and Chris!) should be on the lookout for a lot more long and pointless stories, anecdotes, grumblings, etc. I’m gonna bring it!

Oh, it’s already been brough-t.

Fitting into the “old lady” role quite nicely

I threw my back out sneezing last night.

Sneezing.

How sad is that?

Breakin the law

This past Saturday, Chris and I made a trip over to my favorite store, The Tar-jay. When we got there, we noticed that the parking lot was filled to the brim with police cars. San Diego, National City, CHP, La Mesa, Oceanside, there was no law enforcement entity in San Diego County that was not being represented by the pigs.

When we [finally] found a parking spot and headed into Target, we saw cops EVERYWHERE. Chris started to break out in a mild sweat and said that with all the cops around, he felt like he should be running. (After asking a Target employee what in the HECK was going on, we found out it was Shop With a Cop Day. Basically, underprivileged kids were paired up with a cop who had a $100 Target gift card to spend on them. A nice sentiment, yes, but show me a kid who really wants to be hanging out with the po all day.)

After we made it out of there, Chris relayed a story that I thought was pretty funny: One of his two younger brothers was riding with their older, wiser cousin and asked him at what age you stop being afraid of the police. His cousin responded with, “Probably when you stop breaking the law.”

And with that, I’ve decided I’ll never stop being afraid of the police. How about you?

“Deck the harrs with borghs of horry, fa ra ra ra ra, ra ra ra ra”

It was my intention this holiday season to NOT decorate. At all. But dammit all to hell if Christmas decorations aren’t lovely to look at while knitting a scarf on a Monday (ahem, or a Saturday) night. Behold! My holiday decorations in all their glory!

The Tree. Last year, we were too late and they didn’t have any five to six foot trees left. Our apartment has high ceilings, yes, but not that high. This year’s tree is much more apartment-sized. That being said, there is now not an empty wall in the entire living area of our apartment. If I were claustrophobic, we would have a problem. Luckily I’m not, however, I do kind of feel like one of those hoarders Oprah has interventions for on her show. Sad.

The Poinsettia. By far my favorite of all the holiday shrubbery. There’s just something about their lovely deep red color that brings out the Christmas spirit. Or maybe it’s just the fact that I don’t ever have to water them and they will last right on through till February…

The Wreath. Hey look! We live in apartment number seven! This wreath is a product of one of my many ill-fated attempts at craftiness. But it looks nice! you say. Ah yes, well, that is because this is the wreath my friend made. Mine, on the other hand, well, I’m sure it ended up where it was supposed to from the moment the words, “Let’s make our own wreaths!” passed over my lips: In. The. Trash.

The Menorah. Okay, I’ll be honest, I totally forgot to bring the menorah out until I began taking pictures of all my other holiday decorations. It’s sad, isn’t it? To this day, even Jewish holiday decor is being persecuted! (My grandma is so thrilled with this blog right now, I can feel it…)

30 Little Things – Day 30 – “Thanksgiving Casualties”

This has made an appearance more than once or twice in the past five days.

From the girl who can’t sleep…

So I can’t sleep. And I suppose it’s only 10:30 PM, which is early for some people, but for me, it’s late. I did nap on the couch from 8:00 PM to 8:30 PM, but whatever. I thought maybe three episodes of “Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders: Making the Team” would have put me to sleep, but it did not. I am still awake. Those girls are just such good dancers!

Here are some things that are on my mind:

Tomorrow is Thanksgiving-eve. Did you know Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday? Oh, well, it is. As far as I can remember, it always has been. I just love all the food and family (which is actually quite funny considering my parents are usually in Las Vegas or Hawaii for Thanksgiving.) This year, Chris and I are taking in a couple San Diego orphans – but before you think we’ve gone and grown hearts of gold – we’re just having over a couple friends who have nowhere to go. We have quite the menu planned, as you can imagine, and I’m sure to blog about it later. There will not be yams or sweet potatoes on our menu, though, as we both hate them.

Spencer and Heidi got married, OMG, I know, I can’t believe it either. No wait, they’ll be on the cover of Us Weekly this week, so I can. I was hoping, REALLY hoping, that the visit from her mom and that whole brouhaha with her sister would have opened her eyes to the sub-human douchebag that is Spencer Pratt. But apparently she digs that terrible flesh-colored facial hair. Ew.

I’m having quite the time trying to learn how to sign my new name. My legal pads at work look like the doodlings of a 13 year old girl! I’ve practiced a lot, but just can’t seem to get the L to the S to the H transition to go smoothly. I’m sure I’ll figure it out, but you know, it’s annoying.

Hey, it just started raining! That is sure to put me to sleep…Right?

30 Little Things – Day 28 – “ARGH”

I really wish the mofos who are doing God only knows how many loads of laundry would please STOP so that I can get these piles of clothes off my floor! God, I hate living in an apartment.
