School’s out forever

Everyone’s making a Summer Bucket List or a Summer To-Do List or a Things I’m Doing This Summer List or maybe just a Stuff I Would Like To Do This Summer But Probably Won’t Because I’m Going To Collapse On My Couch With The A/C On And Watch House Hunters List — hey, no judgment — but there’s just something about summer (summer, man), so I thought I’d do the same. Why not?

Here’s what I’d like to do this summer. Chris’s suggestions are added throughout (cough, camping, cough.)

– Go to yoga once a week
– Start training for a half marathon
– Sign up for a half marathon
– Go on a hike
– Buy a contraption for Chris to wear to tote LG around on a hike
– Go on bike rides
– Buy a contraption for Chris to put on the front of his bike for LG to sit in
– Buy LG a helmet for the above bike contraption
– Go camping
– Catch a fish
– Take a train somewhere
– Ride a boat
– Take LG to the park often-ish
– Print pictures of LG from Christmas until now
– Print new pictures of LG for me and Chris to take to work because the rotund baby pictures we currently have are not very representative of her anymore
– Eat lots of BBQ — ribs, steak, HOT DOGS, etc.
– Make s’mores
– Depending on how the garden does, pickle and can lots of vegetables
– Learn how to pickle
– Learn how to can
– Make our own yogurt
– Buy the contraption Ashley recommended to make our own yogurt
– Wear a lot of dresses
– Maybe buy some dresses that don’t show my ass when I bend over
– Chris says maybe don’t do that
– No he doesn’t, but I bet he would if he was here
– Go to Bakersfield at least once to steal my best friend’s new baby squish on my best friend’s new baby
– Also to swim in my parents’ pool
– Also to dump LG on my parents so we can go out without a kid
– Run down the streets of Bakersfield, hands in the air (like we just don’t care), screaming, “Sans kid! Sans kid!”
– Schedule a family photography session using the gift certificate my best friend got us
– A year ago
– Go to a cheese tasting in the little town over from ours
– Sans kid!
– Find and drink Ramona’s Pinot Grigio
– Try one of Bethenny’s SkinnyGirl drinks
– Continue to bankroll the Real Housewives franchise
– Get more pedicures
– Try threading
– Get my hair done sometime
– Go pee when I have to, instead of holding it for hours
– I have been holding it for hours
– Read some new books, let’s say four
– Keep up with weeding the garden
– UGH
– BBQ a pizza
– Find a job
– See my grandparents more often
– Buy Us Weekly…weekly-ish…so I’m not all, “I thought Justin and Jessica broke up and now they’re ENGAGED?”
– Hang pictures in LG’s room

I’ll let you know how I do. What are you up to this summer?

  1. Saramcg says:

I loved your stream of consciousness list for the summer. By far my favorite I have read all year.

  2. Kate says:

If the contraption recommended for yogurt making is, uh, a yogurt maker, I will send you ours. (Wedding gift. Never used! Or opened, for that matter.)

  3. Yes, see your grandparents more often! Yes, print a couple of LG pictures for your grandparents also. Yes, schedule that family photo session and get a few for your grandparents.

  4. That’s a pretty ambitious summer! And with a toddler in tow, too! I’ve already accomplished my two summer goals: to do the Bourbon Trail and attend CMA Fest/Bonnaroo. I think the only other two I have left to do is: buy a house and drink all said bourbon I hauled back from Kentucky.
